Must-know facts about union certification in Ontario
December 11, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
The residential construction industry in Toronto is generally recognized as one of the most unionized workforces in the country. As the 407 nears completion and development pushes East from the GTA we are seeing more Toronto based developers doing business in Peterborough and the Kawarthas, often bringing workers, both unionized and not, with them. Current predictions by industry experts is that the idustry will be unionized in our area within the next 10 years.
Union certification in construction works differently than other sectors and it’s important that business owners know their rights and responsibilities if the issue arises. The process can happen extremely quickly and the stakes are high so it’s important to know your options in advance.
Join us for an information session led by Patrick Ganley and Keith Burkhardt of Sherrard Kuzz LLP – Employment and Labour Lawyers. They will present on issues specific to the residential construction industry and answer any question that arise both during the 2 hour session and afterward.
Admission to this event is open to members only. The event will take place in Peterborough with details on location available closer to the date once numbers have been confirmed. It is our intention to offer this session to members free of charge.
